Nitrogen in Heat Treatment

Nitrogen is used in heat treatment for three main purposes:
1. Protective Gas Purging:
Nitrogen is used to purge protective gases, such as endogas, in furnaces. This protects the parts being processed from oxidation and other chemical reactions.
2. Cleaning:
During the decarburization (or descaling) process, nitrogen is used to remove residues and contaminants from the surface of parts. This results in cleaner and smoother surfaces.
3. Cooling:
Nitrogen is used to cool parts heated in vacuum furnaces. This method ensures rapid and uniform cooling, reducing the risk of unwanted deformation and cracking.
